Biography

My educational journey in psychology started on a part time basis at several community colleges in Southern California. I was a first generation high school graduate and college attendee so learning the whole college system was part of my education. I transferred to UC Irvine where I was part of the Child Abuse Research Education Team (C.A.R.E.T). This team gathered data from Orange County Social Services files in an effort to find more effective interventions for abused children. I graduated with my B.A in Psychology and Social Relations from the School of Social Ecology at UC Irvine. I then waited 10 years before attending CSU Stanislaus in Turlock to earn my M.A. in Psychology. My thesis was on the effect of hormonal shifts on female mate value, depressive symptomology, and short-term mating orientation. 

I have taught at several colleges including Merced College, San Joaquin Delta, Diablo Valley College, and University of Phoenix and am thrilled to be here at MJC teaching others to love learning as much as I do. In addition to psychology I teach life skills to welfare-to-work recipients in San Joaquin County through a program called Wellness WORKs! in Stockton. I have also taught psychology courses at Valley State Prison and Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla.


At Modesto Junior College I teach a variety of classes including, Developmental Psychology, (Psych 141), General  Psychology (Psych 101), Research Methods (Psych 102), Social Psychology (Psych 104), and Human Sexuality (Psych 110).
