Information

Greetings! My name is Amy Carnahan. I am from Fresno, Ca; born and raised.  I relocated for this opportunity to teach here at MJC!!! I have now been teaching here full time since 2017.

Experience

I have been actively involved in the field of Early Childhood Education for 22 years. During that time I have served in a variety of roles from infant/toddler to  preschool, as an assistant teacher, master teacher, mentor teacher. I have been working here at MJC for the past year as full time Faculty for Child Development. I have also taught as an adjunct instructor for Brandman University, Fresno City College, and Reedley Community College. Prior to coming to MJC I worked Fresno County Office of Education; where I worked in the Early Care & Education Department support our local Quality Improvement efforts for 3 years.  My classroom experience working with children expands over 14 years and included working at Clovis Community College Center Child Development Center, California State University Fresno Huggins Early Education Center and Fresno City College Child Development Center.

Education

I attended Pacific Oaks College, and hold an M.A. in Human Development with a focus in Leadership in Education and Human Services and a specialization in College Teaching/Teaching Adults.  I also have a B.A. in Human Development with a specialization in Infant/Toddler Development.

I also have a very strong and passionate background with the Reggio Approach.  I had the opportunity to tour Reggio Emilia, Italy in 2006. I currently hold a California Child Development Director Permit, serve on Board of Directors for Central CAEYC, and am a Trainer in the following ECE tools; PITC, Strengthening Families, ASQ’s, CLASS, PAS, and DRDP.
