Biography
I hope that you find MJC is welcoming, challenging and supportive. I attended MJC as a student and transferred to UC Davis, majoring in Geography and minoring in Chinese History. I completed a Single-Subject Credential in Social Sciences from University of the Pacific and later taught 7th grade at Somerset Senior Elementary in Modesto. I also taught A and O level geography while at graduate school in London. I completed two master's degrees at the London School of Economics, one in Geography and the other in Economic History. Other positions I have held include the following;
- Retail Manager at Peet's Coffee and Teas in Berkeley, California.
- Farm worker at Hudelson Farms, Hughson, Ca.
- Short order cook at Huskyburger, Hughson, Ca.
- Assembly Line Worker at Hershey's Chocolate, Oakdale.
- Retail sales at Trader Joes, Macy's, Modesto Bags and Baggage, and Gottschalks.
- Basketball, Track, and Volleyball coach at Hughson High School and Somerset Senior Elementary.
- Part-time Geography Instructor at George Washington University, Las Positas College, DeAnza College, and Modesto Junior College.
- Part-time Economics Instructor at Hartnell College.
- Part-time History Instructor at Modesto Junior College.
- Dean, Business, Behavioral, and Social Sciences at Modesto Junior College.
- I currently teach Geography and Economic History on a part-time basis at CSU Stanislaus.
- I am currently the Interim Dean of the Schools of Business and Computing, Industry and Trades, and Public Safety at Modesto Junior College.
My academic interests have centered upon sustainable agriculture, local economic development, and new firm formation in rural economies.
