Biography

Michael has been serving students for over 8 years and has professional experience providing mental health services, social work, and academic counseling to students and families when needed most. He has received a Master of Arts degree in Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy and has studied Higher Education Leadership for Student Success.

Michael is highly motivated by two passions; Higher Education and Counseling Psychology. His main objectives are to assist students in succeeding at MJC and beyond, to assist students in overcoming obstacles, and to ensure students achieve their educational and career goals. As a former Trio Upward Bound and EOP&S student at Modesto Junior College he understands how important it is to support students in navigating their higher educational journey. He has dedicated his career to support and empower students to be successful life-long learners and works hard to minimize barriers to student success. Michael has proudly served in Veterans Services, Disability Services, EOPS, Umoja, The Collaborative, and the Re-Entry Success Network. In addition to his counseling role, he is a Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor. Currently, he serves as Counselor for the Accommodation & Support Center (ASC), formally known as DSPS, and the Veterans Services program.
