Biography
I have been a Columbia College faculty member since 2000. I started my post-secondary education at a community college completing an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts. I transferred to San Jose State University and completed a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Behavioral Science with and emphasis in Sociology and a minor in Business concentration in Human Resources Management. I then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Education Counseling with an emphasis in pupil personnel services at the post-secondary level. Finally, I completed a Master’s degree in Sociology at Sacramento State University. I teach courses in Guidance including Orientation to College and Life Skills for Higher Education. In addition, I teach Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of the Family and Ethnic Studies (Race and Ethnicity in America).
I have been working within the California Community College System for 29 years. First, as a classified professional at De Anza College and later as a faculty member at San Jose City College. I am passionate about teaching, learning and social justice.
