Wendy McClendon
Biography
I have been a in EMS for 30 years and a paramedic for 24 years now. I started off my career in the USAR as a combat medic at age 17 and fell in love with it so much that I put myself through civilian paramedic school when I was old enough - back then they had age restrictions. I started working as a paramedic for AMR Alameda county back in 2000. I worked as a combat medic instructor in the Army reserves for 15 years finishing out my career there as a OCT - observer/ controller / trainer and retired in 2016 with 23 years of service. Ive been teaching EMT students since 2005, started off as a skills instructor and part time lecturer at Las Positas College, Livermore CA. In 2014 I took over the EMT Program as the primary professor and created a very strong program. I joined the team at MJC this September (2022) as my first Full Time position as a instructor / college professor. I am excited to not only work closer to home but to teach with an amazing group of instructors who have created an amazing program here. I still work on the ambulance part time to keep skills up to date and I love the patient contacts - it reminds me still today why I teach. In my spare time I raise a teenager, tend to my rescue horses and other farm animals and live each day to the fullest.
