Articulation is the process of establishing value of courses across one or more institutions of higher learning. For example, articulation should ensure that ENGL 100 has the same function at a given CSU campus as it does at MJC. Establishing articulation can include getting approval for a course to transfer to the UC system as generic elective credit, getting a course approved to appear on the MJC CSU-GE pattern, or ensuring that a course completed at MJC counts as lower division preparation in a CSU or UC major, so that it doesn't need to be retaken. Because curriculum changes year after year on every campus, including the MJC campus, articulation is an iterative process that benefits from faculty, student, and administrative engagement.
